Professional Development for Lecturers

Professional Development Award:
Ensuring that lecturers have access to professional development funding has been one of our union's most important victories at the bargaining table. The Professional Development Awards are a wonderful benefit that the lecturers of UC-AFT demanded and won for themselves.
As a lecturer (Unit 18 of UC-AFT), you may apply for funds to support your research, conference attendance, or other professional development activity. The administration typically sends out a notice to lecturers regarding these awards, but you should check with your department about specific application deadlines and timelines for obtaining letters of support.  More information can be found at the Academic Personnel website:

The awards are administered by fellow lecturers with the support of the administration.  We encourage you to apply.

Also, each Fall term, we recruit lecturers to serve on the committee that reviews PDA applications.  Particularly if you've received an award in the past, please volunteer a few hours for this committee.  Contact President Andrew Tonkovich at atonkovi@uci.edu
